Council to Hear Air Quality/Oil and Gas Update
Council to Hear Air Quality/Oil and Gas Update
Longmont City Council will hear an update on the City’s Regional Air Quality Study on Tuesday, February 2 at 7 pm during the City Council study session meeting.
Data collection at two monitoring stations began in late 2019 and the first year of data collection has resulted in significant scientific findings. The data have been used by regulating agencies and scientific institutions, and can be viewed in near-real-time online at www.bouldair.com/longmont.
In an effort to raise public awareness of the City of Longmont’s Regional Air Quality Study, staff will introduce two new videos about air quality. Videos are to be released on social media and added to the City’s website. Additionally, a new air quality category has been included in the City’s eNotification system, enabling residents to sign up for email updates about notable air quality events and issues.
Staff also will provide an oil and gas update, including information about upcoming activities at the Knight well pad, which is part of the Site Relinquishment Agreement the City entered into in 2018.
All City Council and study session meetings are being held virtually during the pandemic. For instructions on viewing and participating in virtual City Council meetings please visit longmontcolorado.gov/departments/city-council/city-council-meetings.
