Downtown Longmont is about to experience a tremendous transformation. A few public and private projects are underway and more are starting soon, all with a goal of building a better, more vibrant City. These include Coffman Street Mobility Improvements, Hotel Longmont, a 1st & Main Transit Station and Safety & Justice Center renovations. To celebrate, and to share details on these and other projects, the City will host an open house:

  • When: Thursday, May 30, from 5-7 pm
  • Where: Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave, Longmont, rooms D and E
  • RSVP not required

All are invited. As added incentive to attend, free tacos will be served.

If you need special assistance in order to participate in this meeting, please contact the City Manager’s Office at 303-651-8601 at least five days in advance of the meeting to make arrangements.

Coffman Street Mobility Improvements Project

The first of these endeavors to break ground is the Coffman Street Mobility Improvements Project. Located along Coffman Street between 1st Avenue and 9th Avenue, the project will create an efficient multi-modal corridor for buses, vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians. Work is underway and construction is expected to be completed in approximately two years. Find details – including an interactive StoryMap that shows the project history, design, and planned improvements – on the project website at bit.ly/CoffmanStreetMobility.

RTD Bus Stops Relocate

For approximately two years during Coffman Street construction, four RTD bus stops (currently at 8th Avenue and Coffman Street) will be temporarily relocated to Bross Street. These include #33674 (Gate A), #33677 (Gate B), #17798 (Gate C) and #33676 (Gate D). Temporary bus stops consisting of small concrete pads have been installed on the east side of Bross Street between Longs Peak Avenue and 8th Avenue. Pedestrian access to the bus stops will be from the west side of Roosevelt Park.

The current plan is for RTD buses to begin using the new bus stop area, and the route shown below, on May 26. Should this date shift, updated information will be posted at longmontcolorado.gov/news.

Bus Route Map shows the bus stops formerly east of Roosevelt park on Coffman Street have moved to the east side of the park on Bross Street

Additional bus activity should be expected on Bross Street, Longs Peak Avenue, Gay Street, and 9th Avenue. RTD has indicated that this route will be in effect until 2027. At that time, local, regional and bus-rapid-transit (BRT) buses will depart from the 1st & Main Station and stop at the new northbound and southbound bus stops along Coffman Street at 4th Avenue, 6th Avenue, and at 8th Avenue in downtown Longmont.
