Faces of NextLight: Wado-Kai Karate (Full Speed Ahead blog)

A lot of people get their kicks from NextLight. Gus Brockman gives a few … along with some blocks and punches for good measure.

Brockman, who owns and teaches at Longmont’s Wado-Kai Karate, found himself having to make a quick course correction during the COVID-19 lockdown. He couldn’t have in-person classes, but trying to teach over a glitchy phone connection was painful. Then he asked NextLight to enter the dojo.

Gus Brockman of Wado-Kai Karate stands facing the viewer's left in a karate gi and black belt, with one arm extended.

“I haven’t had a problem since,” Brockman said. “And it’s been such a success being able to offer those online classes that I even still offer two classes a week on Zoom for my advanced students.”

Thousands of Longmonters like Brockman put the “community” in NextLight’s community-owned internet. The speed and reliability of fiber-optic internet helps them follow their passion, whether it’s gaming, staying in touch with distant family, or demonstrating that perfect side kick to karate students who are out of town for a summer vacation but still want to keep their skills fresh.

Want to hear it from the master’s lips? Listen to Brockman share his experience with NextLight. And if that has you curious, you can find out more about what Longmont’s own internet can do for your own business, whether it’s a home office, a small business or even a large company that needs a custom-designed internet solution. (We even offer a SmartBiz managed WiFi service for small business, so you can focus on your customers instead of worrying about your wireless connection.)

Give it a try. It’s a great way to punch up to the next level.
