GOOD TO KNOW

Q: What is the plan for the old fire station at Hover and Mountain View? Initially it was shut down when the new station was built, but now it has been painted and looks busy.

A: Longmont moved Fire Station 2 from Mountain View Avenue and Hover Street to 2212 17th Avenue in early 2024 because the original site, built 50 years ago, no longer met the City’s needs. The former station was designed when Longmont was much smaller, and modern fire apparatus no longer fit comfortably in two of its three bays. The new location also provides improved east-west and north-south access for fire and medical responses.

While the former Longmont Fire Station 2 is not an active fire station, it is being used for training offices and small training sessions for Longmont firefighters.
