Beginning Sept. 2, the Development Services Center (385 Kimbark St) will be closed to the public every Wed, 8 – 11 am.

Free Evening Meals at the Senior Center

The Longmont Senior Center will provide healthy grab-and go meals – for free – on select Friday and Tuesday evenings beginning Friday, October 2.

 

These meals are made possible through a new partnership with the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) ProStart & Culinary Arts program. Nutritious microwavable dinners will be made fresh by students in the culinary program at the Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC) with a focus on senior dietary needs. This same SVVSD program will also provide meals for Longmont youth involved in Children, Youth and Families programming at the Longmont Youth Center.

 

The Senior Services Advisory Board is committed to help address food insecurity for seniors in Longmont. This new program is in addition to these existing Senior Services programs:

 

  • In partnership with Longmont Meals on Wheels, lunches are provided at low cost, both at the Senior Center (Monday through Friday, at 11:30 am) as well as through home delivery.
  • In partnership with Longmont Food Rescue, free walk-up food distribution happens at the Senior Center on the second Saturday of each month, from 10-11:30 am.

 

“We are very excited about the community-building nature of this new program,” said Ronnie Maynes, Senior Services Manager. “In addition to serving the senior community, the program simultaneously benefits student development at the SVVSD ProStart culinary program. This is a terrific example of community members working together to help each other. While the program is currently funded through the end of 2026, we are exploring every possibility to extend it into 2027.”

 

Program Details in Brief

 

  • What: Free chilled grab-and go meals, ready to be microwave
  • When: At 3 pm every other Friday, beginning October 2, except when impacted by SVVSD holiday closures. Dates in 2026 include:

 

    • Fridays, October 2, 16, and 30
    • Friday, November 13 and Tuesday, November 24
    • Friday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 22

 

  • Where: Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue
