Free Film Screening: “The Librarians”

blue and gray indie lens popup logoYou’ve heard the buzz. Public libraries across the country are hosting screenings of the powerful 2025 documentary “The Librarians”—and now you can see it, too. Save the date and join us at the Longmont Museum to watch it on Sunday, March 1. A moderated discussion will follow.

“The Librarians” explores the national conversation around access to books and ideas in schools and public libraries. As some US lawmakers work to restrict certain types of materials, librarians find themselves on the frontlines of a national debate over access to information and the freedom to read. This documentary follows the stories and struggles of librarians in Texas, Florida, and other states where such challenges to intellectual freedom are urgent and ongoing.

The Librarians is part of a PBS community screening series called Indie Lens Pop-Up Films. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2025 to wide national acclaim.

This program is free and open to all. Let’s fill the auditorium.
