Join Longmont’s Free Native American Heritage Month Celebration on November 8
Longmont’s Native American Heritage Month Celebration will be held on Saturday November 8, 2025, from 11 am to 4 pm, at the Longmont Senior Center (910 Longs Peak Ave). This free event is open to the public of all ages and features family activities, Native dancers and drummers, storytelling, a short film screening, food, giveaways and more.
Inspired by the Longmont Sister Cities Association’s work in establishing a formalized relationship with the Northern Arapaho Tribe, the annual event highlights Native American history, culture and traditions. The event was created to foster awareness and healing by bridging the gap between the Longmont community and the original people of this land.
Scheduled activities:
- 10:30 am Doors Open
- 11 am – 12 pm Opening Blessing and Land Acknowledgement
- 12 pm Community Meal (until food runs out)
- 12:30 – 1:30 pm Rocky Mountain Indigenous Dancers
- 1:45 – 2:45 Elder Exchange Video Premiere and Panel Discussion AND Children’s Storytime
- 3 – 3:30 pm Storytelling
- 3:30 – 4 pm Community Reflection and Closing
There will also be arts and crafts at the Senior Center and a Northern Arapaho Tee Pee Expo in Roosevelt Park from noon to 3:30 pm.
“This celebration is about coming together as neighbors to honor Native voices, traditions, and stories,” said Longmont Children, Youth and Families Community Coordinator Jenny Diaz-Leon. “It’s a chance for families and community members to learn, share, and celebrate the beauty and strength of Native American cultures.”
Sponsors for the event include the Longmont Native American Heritage Month Committee, the Longmont Community Foundation, the Longmont Multicultural Action Committee, Friends of the Longmont Senior Center, and the City of Longmont.
