Keeping An Eye Out … And The Lights On
Keeping An Eye Out … And The Lights On
This is the season of watching.
It might be shepherds watching their flocks by night. Or families watching their mailbox for a last-minute Amazon order. Or even kids watching the NORAD Santa tracker, to see just where the famous sleigh is on the radar.
We watch for family at the airport. For holiday lights around town. For someplace that has scotch tape at 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
And in the midst of all this, someone’s got to watch the power lines, too.
That’s where we come in.
As you’ve probably seen, the city offices will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, so that the team can relax and enjoy the holidays like everyone else. Most of the time, everyone gets a pretty quiet holiday. (Well, as quiet as early-rising kids will allow, anyway.) But even with an electrical system as reliable as Longmont’s – one where a typical customer may go two years or more without seeing an interruption – we know that outages can happen. And they’re not always polite about waiting for business hours.
Reliable electricity is important 24/7, so we always keep an eye out for issues that might arise. Even at the holidays, we have line crew who remain on call in case they’re needed. That means if you experience an issue at any time – holidays, weekends, evenings – you can still call our main number at 303-651-8386, choose the option to report an electric outage, and know that we’ll be on it. And yes, our NextLight crews also keep an eye on the fiber lines, in case any network issues should arise. (Don’t forget – we also have tips on preparing for winter outages and staying safe in winter outages!)
So with that – have a safe holiday. May it be merry, bright, and peaceful. After all, the New Year will be here before we know it.
Just watch.
