Longs Peak Avenue/Atwood Street Intersection Open to Through Traffic Starting August 26
Longs Peak Avenue/Atwood Street Intersection Open to Through Traffic Starting August 26
The intersection at Longs Peak Avenue and Atwood Street is fully open to vehicles and pedestrians as of Tuesday, August 26. All east/west lanes on Longs Peak Avenue and north/south lanes on Atwood Street are now accessible through the intersection. All parking spaces and pedestrian crosswalks around the intersection are also open.
Atwood Street between Longs Peak Avenue and 8th Avenue is back to one-way traffic on the east and west sides of the railroad tracks. The temporary two-way traffic pattern for local residents has been removed. Please follow standard posted traffic signs. There will be some minor additional fencing and landscaping work but no traffic impacts are anticipated.
This will mark the completion of safety improvements at this railroad crossing for the Quiet Zones project. Train horns will continue to sound regularly as required by the Federal Rail Administration (FRA) until upgrades at multiple consecutive crossings are complete and can be designated a Quiet Zone. More information can be found on the Railroad Quiet Zones in Longmont project webpage.
Questions or concerns regarding the project should be directed to the project hotline by calling 720-526-2044 or emailing QuietZones@longmontcolorado.gov.
