Northbound Coffman Street Closing March 24 Between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue
Northbound Coffman Street Closing March 24 Between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue
The City of Longmont is taking advantage of good weather and accelerating concrete work on the south end of the Coffman Street Mobility Improvements project. Starting Monday, March 24, the northbound lanes of Coffman Street will be closed between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue for approximately three months. This will extend the closure of the northbound lanes on Coffman Street from 2nd Avenue to 9th Avenue as work continues on the east side of Coffman Street. The southbound lanes will remain open.
On-street parking on the east side of Coffman Street will be closed on the blocks under construction. Temporary driveway closures will be required on the east side of Coffman Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. Those closures are being coordinated with individual property owners. Travelers will need to follow signs to enter and exit driveways from the southbound lane.
The intersection at Coffman Street and 4th Avenue is currently under construction and the east side of the intersection will remain closed for approximately two more weeks. Work on the traffic signals at 3rd Avenue is also starting next week. There will not be a full closure of the intersection at any time but there will be lane shifts and temporary delays.
Asphalt paving activities will also start on March 24 between 6th Avenue and 9th Avenue. This is the last step before opening the northbound lanes in these blocks in mid-April. Final work will be required later in the year, but both southbound and northbound lanes will be open until that time.
Please check the Coffman Street Mobility Improvements Project webpage for updates on the status of construction and potential traffic impacts. We encourage the public to support businesses along Coffman Street and adjacent blocks throughout construction. Various parking options can be found on the DowntownLongmont.com parking webpage.
Questions or concerns regarding the project should be directed to the project hotline at 720-432-7058 or CoffmanStreetMobility@longmontcolorado.gov.
