Reliable power starts with safe crews. And Longmont has some of the safest.
That’s not just hometown pride talking. The American Public Power Association recently gave Longmont Power & Communications its Diamond Safety Award of Excellence. That’s the highest honor it can give, recognizing an exceptionally low injury rate compared to the number of hours worked.
“This validates our commitment to protecting our crews, making sure they have the training, the resources, and the support they need to perform their jobs safely and go home to their families every night,” said Trenton King, LPC’s safety and training manager.
So what does that mean for you? A few things:
- Safe crews are reliable crews: Crews that take time for safety are paying close attention to the work they do, which helps keep your power reliable. And Longmont knows what that looks like … a typical customer can go almost two years without seeing a power outage.
- In the long run, safe is faster: Taking a few extra minutes for safety means you don’t lose a lot of time with an accident. (Electric linework currently ranks no. 11 among the most dangerous jobs in the country.) Again, Longmont sees the benefits: LPC crews typically restore an outage in about an hour.
- Your neighbor gets to go home: Longmont is a city-owned electric service – your service. When the crews stay safe, that means it’s your friends, neighbors and community members who are making it through the day OK.
So this isn’t just LPC’s win. It’s a win for the whole community.
One that’s Diamond-bright.
