Paving on Nelson Road Begins August 10

The City of Longmont will begin asphalt rehabilitation on Nelson Road between Hover Street and Ken Pratt Boulevard beginning August 10, 2026. Construction is expected to be completed by September 10, 2026, weather permitting.

Work will occur intermittently between the daytime hours of 5:30 am to 3:30 pm and the overnight hours of 8:00 pm to 6:00 am throughout the project. Nighttime operations are necessary to provide a safer working environment for both motorists and construction personnel while minimizing impacts to daytime traffic, particularly near the intersection of Ken Pratt Boulevard and Nelson Road.

Residents and businesses located near the project should expect construction-related noise during the daytime and overnight work hours. Motorists traveling on Nelson Road during construction should anticipate traffic delays, allow extra travel time and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed, follow all posted traffic control devices and obey directions from construction personnel.

These improvements are part of the City’s Pavement Management Program to maintain and enhance Longmont’s transportation infrastructure.
