Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Main Street
The Longmont Police Services Traffic Unit is investigating a high-speed one-vehicle fatal crash in the mid-block of the 500 block of Main St.
The crash occurred at 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2021. The vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, was traveling northbound on Main St. when the crash occurred. The pickup struck the center median and a light pole at the mid-block crosswalk. The driver, who has been tentatively identified as a Longmont resident, age 31, died at the scene.
Reckless driving, speed, and alcohol/drugs may have contributed to this crash.
Traffic investigators were on scene overnight and opened the road at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning.

Additional information about the driver will not be available until the Boulder County Coroner’s Office completes its investigation and family notifications. As with all severe crashes, this crash will be thoroughly investigated. Any updates from Longmont Police Services will not be immediately available until the investigation is complete.
