Railroad Work on Main St. at 1st Ave. and S. Martin St. at 1st Ave. Planned

This week multiple repairs are planned to railroad tracks at two separate locations: near the intersection of U.S. 287 (Main Street) at 1st Avenue; and the intersection of S. Martin Street at 1st Avenue.

Main Street Repairs

The northbound outside lane of Main Street near 1st Avenue is closed today, Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Broken panels on both sides of the crossing will be removed and the area will be repaired with asphalt tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 18. Both southbound lanes will be impacted, though only one lane will be closed at a time. The northbound outside lane will remain closed until repaired. One lane of travel will be open in both directions at all times.
This work is anticipated to be completed in one day.

These are temporary repairs. CDOT and BNSF are coordinating future dates for more permanent repairs.

S. Martin Street Repairs

BNSF will also be replacing broken panels on northbound S. Martin Street near the intersection of S. Martin and 1st Avenue on Thursday, Nov. 19. Northbound traffic will be detoured west on 1st Avenue to Main Street, then back to S. Martin on 3rd Avenue. View the map below.

This work is anticipated to be completed in one day.

The City of Longmont is working on these repairs in coordination with BNSF, CDOT, and Loveland Barricade. Construction dates are subject to change. Travelers are encouraged to avoid these areas and take other routes throughout the week.

Updates on these repairs will be available on the City of Longmont’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Please contact BNSF with specific questions or comments by calling (800) 832-5452 or submitting an online form at https://www.bnsf.com/about-bnsf/contact-us-form.page.
