Residents Invited to Submit Question, Topic Ideas for Council Candidates
Residents are invited to share their questions and concerns with candidates running for City Council seats in the November election.
Longmont Public Media and the League of Women Voters of Boulder County are putting on two events to better inform the public about candidates running for City Council. These will be held at the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium. They are open to the public and will be broadcast, live, on Comcast Channel 8, 14, and 16, as well as LPM’s YouTube Channel, LPM’s Facebook, LPM’s Twitch Stream, LPM’s website and LPM’s Smart TV Roku app.
The public can submit questions and ideas on the Engage Longmont platform to be included in the forum, the debate, and the one-on-one interviews, until 6 pm on Friday, Sept. 17. Residents can also vote on ideas submitted by others, beginning on Sept. 17 until 6 pm on Sept. 29.
City Council Candidate Forum
The first will be a forum for the six at-large candidates vying for two open City Council seats. The candidates are: Diane Crist, Jeremy Dejuan Johnson, Sean P. McCoy, Aren Rodriguez, Tallis Salamatian and Shiquita Yarbrough. The forum will be at the Stewart Auditorium inside the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, on Sunday, Oct. 3, from 2-3:30 pm.
Mayoral Candidate Forum
The second is a debate between three Mayoral candidates, Gregory Harris, Joan Peck and Tim Waters. The debate will be held at the Stewart Auditorium inside the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, on Monday, Oct. 4, from 6-7:30 pm.
We will also be doing one-on-one interviews with each candidate. The interviews will be available for viewing on LPM’s website and YouTube, and will play on Comcast Public Access Channel 8 and Government Access Channel 16 throughout October.
