See For Yourself

Not every beginning cook learns well from a written recipe. Sometimes you just have to see it in action as a teacher, a friend or a video demonstrates everything. Pot being heated on portable induction cooktop as woman's hand lifts lid

That’s true for building electrification, too. So we’ll be doing a little demonstrating.

At this year’s Longmont Earth Day Celebration (April 22 at Timberline PK-8 school), Longmont Power & Communications will be demonstrating a portable induction cooktop. It’s a way to show how fast, controllable and safe all-electric cooking can be … and how it can be one more step toward not having to rely on carbon-based fuels for a building’s functions.

Now if you do like to learn by reading – or simply want to find out more about all this electrification stuff – we’ve also got our brand-new Building Electrification page to help you out, too. That’s where you’ll find plenty about how electrification can lower emissions, improve health and still supply basic needs like cooking and heating. It’s also got information about how to get started, including how to get rebates and tax credits to offset the cost of upgrading your appliances and equipment.

And speaking of rebates, our own Efficiency Works program is increasing its focus on electrification, including items such as electric water heaters and heat pumps. Check out the rebates pages to find out the latest offers as they become available for your home or your business. (And speaking of homes – if you already have an all-electric home, you can make a great situation even better by getting a triple rebate for a number of energy efficiency improvements through Sept. 30.)

Ready to see what this is about? Need to ask a few questions? Come on down to Earth Day and we’ll be glad to introduce you to electrification in action.

Then you’ll really be cooking.

Without gas, that is.
