On the 15th of every month, readers can ‘drop in’ on the new Senior Center blog—that’s short for web log—to learn more about life, Longmont and the LSC. Long time writer and artist Debbie Noel has graciously taken on the mantle of featured author and her monthly segment, Dropping in With Debbie, highlights classes and events at the Longmont Senior Center, inspirational stories from our community, and the best of what Longmont has to offer for older adults. The blog is live as of September 2018, and you can read about Debbie and follow her at LongmontColorado.gov/ownit.

Like many classes and events at the Longmont Senior Center, the blog is an offering of the Longmont Senior Center (LSC) that is driven by its attendees. “I think folks are excited about the chance to read quality content written about them and by their peers,” says Erica Illingworth, marketing coordinator. “The blog is a way to build an online community with our audience at the LSC who may not be comfortable on social media yet.” She’s careful to point out that the blog is free from the ads and sales pitches often seen on social media.

The blog is an online space that is dedicated exclusively to the older adults in Longmont and Drop in with Debbie exemplifies that. Deborah Noel is very active at the LSC, teaching a writing class and attending art classes regularly. She encourages feedback and discussion on each post, and is open to article ideas.
