Celebrating 155 years of Longmont
In 2026, Longmont turns 155, Colorado will celebrate 150 years of Statehood, and the United States will mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. These triplet milestones are a rare and exciting opportunity to unite with our community in celebration of our past and to imagine our future together.
To mark the occasion, Longmont has launched a year-long celebration of the people, places and moments that have shaped the community. Each month, the City is sharing themed historical photos and stories from Longmont’s past. Residents and visitors can follow along on the City’s website at LongmontColorado.gov/CO150, on Facebook (@cityoflongmontco) and Instagram (@longmontcolorado).
City departments and partners will also host special programs and events throughout the year where residents can learn, connect and celebrate Longmont’s history together. A calendar of events is also available at LongmontColorado.gov/CO150.
Enjoy summer fun at Longmont’s outdoor pools. Sunset Pool is tentatively scheduled to open Thursday, May 21, with pre-summer hours. Designed for all ages, the heated pool features six lap lanes, a large wading area, three diving boards and two waterslides. Please note: dates and hours are weather dependent and may change. Downtown Longmont will kick off the summer with a free street concert on Friday, May 29 from 5:30-9 pm at 4th and Kimbark featuring Jakarta and Face Vocal Band. This family-friendly event features local food, drinks, kids activities, artists, makers, and live music. Visit artist and maker booths hosted by Firehouse Art Center while you enjoy dancing in the street.
Visit the Library Saturday, May 30, from 10 to noon for Genealogy Help. Every last Saturday of the month, volunteers from the Longmont Genealogical Society help people research their family histories, answer questions, and teach people how to use free Library tools. Bring your documents and info. Learn more on the Genealogy Services webpage.
All City facilities will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, except for select Recreation facilities. Trash collection services will be picked up one day LATER than normally scheduled this week. Please have containers out before 7 am. Details at longmontcolorado.gov/holidays.
Tree Trimming Safety

Longmont Drought Response
In response to a dry winter, the City will reduce water consumption by 10% at City-owned greenways, parks, golf courses and other facilities. Residents are encouraged, not required, to do the same. Learn more, including how to practice water efficiency at home, at bit.ly/watering-restrictions.
Drop-In Junior Golf Lessons
Golf Longmont offers golf lessons on Mondays for ages 5–10 at Twin Peaks, and on Tuesdays for ages 10–18 at Ute Creek. Lessons focus on skills, etiquette, safety and fun. Lessons costs $20, cash only, and begin May 26. Details at golflongmont.com/junior-golf.

Q: Is the Longmont Recycling Center expanding hours for limb and branch disposal?
A: Yes! To help residents dispose of storm debris, Longmont Recycling Center hours are extended to seven days a week through the end of May. The center is located at 140 Martin St. and will be open Monday through Sunday, 8 am to 4 pm. As always, bring your City of Longmont utility bill and a photo ID to confirm residency.
Q: Will there be curbside limb and branch collection?
A: The City began curbside storm debris collection in affected neighborhoods on May 18. If you have debris ready to go, stack it at the curb so you’re ready when collection begins. Have questions? Call 303-651-8416.
