The City is introducing Engage Longmont, an exciting new online tool to increase communication between residents and local government. Visit Engage.LongmontColorado.gov to learn about the City’s latest projects and programs and see what your fellow residents are talking about. And most important, use Engage Longmont to make your opinions known!

Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, April 6. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. Don’t Miss 2nd Friday
From 6 to 9 pm on the 2nd Friday of every month the Downtown Longmont Creative District features gallery openings, restaurant promotions, extended retail business hours, and fun activities. Vote for Your Favorite Shock Art
You are encouraged to vote for your favorite “Shock Art” submissions beginning April 12 during 2nd Friday at Old Town Marketplace, 332 Main Street. The Art in Public Places Commission anticipates selecting three artists to transform large green switchgear boxes with colorful and creative artwork. Old Town Marketplace will be open for the public to vote from 10 am to 7 pm April 13 – 20. For more information visit LongmontColorado.gov/AIPP

Join the Citywide Clean-up, Green-up
Groups, families and individuals are invited to help spruce up Longmont April 6-30. Volunteers can pick a park, greenway, street, alley or open space to clean up, or an area of need can be assigned. The Grand Kick-off for the monthlong campaign is from 7:30 to 10:30 am on  Saturday, April 6, at Sunset Campus, 7 S. Sunset Street. If you can’t participate on kick-off day, you can help “Clean-up, Green-up” through April 30. Register Now for Triathlon Weekend
Swim, bike and run! Longmont Recreation Services, along with Altitude Physical Therapy, presents the annual Longmont Triathlon Weekend for children and adults June 1-2. Race information for individuals and teams is available at LongmontColorado.gov/rec, RaceEntry.com, and Active.com, or you can pick up a registration form at the Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Avenue. Early Bird registration ends April 30. Volunteers are needed! Call 303-651-8406 for details.

Nature St. Vrain Environmental Open House
The Education Foundation for the St. Vrain Valley, St. Vrain Valley Schools, Boulder County Parks & Open Space, and the City of Longmont invite you to the Nature St. Vrain open house from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, April 12, at the St. Vrain Innovation Center, 33 Quail Road. Celebrate the contributions of K-12 students to citizen science projects and enjoy a presentation at 6:45 pm by renowned Colorado photographer John Fielder. Get a Free Book for Your 4-year-old
From Monday, April 8, through Monday, April 22, you can get a free book for your 4-year-old at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. Every year, the Colorado State Library conducts a statewide book giveaway to put a new book in the hands of every 4-year-old. Stop by the Children’s and Teen Services Desk to pick up a free “One Book Colorado” picture book. Books are available in English and Spanish, and the giveaway will continue while supplies last. 

Show Downtown You Care: Volunteer!
You’re invited to help spruce up Downtown Longmont from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday, May 4. The Longmont Downtown Development Authority is seeking volunteers to help pick up trash, clean structures, lay mulch, and more. Come with a friend or form a team. Park and Trail Restrooms to Open
Many park restrooms close for winter and reopen in spring (it’s a plumbing thing). Beginning Monday, April 8, ALL restrooms are open from 5 am to 11 pm daily. If you see a problem with a park or greenway public restroom, call 303-651-8416 or report it online at ServiceWorks.LongmontColorado.gov.

Landlord Alliance Training: 2019 Legislative Update
The public is invited to the free Longmont Landlord Alliance presentation from 6:30 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 10, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. Hear the Colorado Apartment Association’s government affairs manager discuss bills that went before the state legislature on topics including rent control, use of application fees, the Warranty of Habitability, and more.
