Longmont to Establish Third Sister City
The Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming and the Longmont Sister Cities Association are proud to announce the formation of the first sister cities relationship between a sovereign tribal nation and a U.S. city. A celebration and formal signing ceremony is scheduled at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. The Northern Arapaho will become Longmont’s third sister city along with Chino, Japan, and Ciudad Guzman, Mexico.
Free Community Night: The Legendary Ladies
The Legendary Ladies will share the spirit of strong women who changed history through performance at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the scenic Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. This is a free outdoor family event. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with lawn games and a coloring table. Bring a sack meal if desired and your own chairs and blankets. No pets allowed. Kids Triathlon and Adult Try-a-Tri
The Kid’s Only Triathlon (ages 6-17; $50) and adult Try-a-Tri (ages 16 and older; $55) are back on Saturday, Aug. 21, with a new location at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. The Try-a-Tri is a super sprint distance triathlon meant for first-timers, those getting back in racing shape, and athletes looking to try something new. Race information is available at LongmontColorado.gov/rec and RaceEntry.com. Online registration ends at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 18. In-person registration on Friday, Aug. 20, and on race day.
