Resiliency Open House
Join City staff for an update on resiliency efforts in Longmont and learn about updated floodplain maps, the S. Pratt Parkway bridge replacement, and the next sections of the Resilient St. Vrain project between Main Street and the BNSF Railroad Bridge. You also can find out how the work may affect your property or your travels around town. Drop in at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 24. Building a Resilient St. Vrain
Have you visited the new blog “Building a Resilient St. Vrain” for project updates, photos and in-depth articles on Longmont’s work to restore the St. Vrain Greenway and protect people and property from the impacts of future flooding? Check it out at LongmontColorado.gov/rsvp-blog. The latest post looks at Dickens Farm Nature Area, an interactive space for enjoying the St. Vrain Creek and exploring nature in a native habitat. Dickens Farm will be built alongside St. Vrain Creek between Main and Martin streets in 2018. Recreation Facility Closures
The City’s recreation facilities close every year in late summer for maintenance on systems and equipment. Centennial Pool will be closed August 19 – 27, and the Longmont Recreation Center will be closed August 27 – September 3. Also, from August 19 through September 4 the Union Reservoir beach will be open only on weekends and Labor Day. For more information, visit LongmontColorado.gov/rec.
Learn About Aquatic Insects at Sandstone
From 10:30 am to noon on Saturday, August 26, learn about aquatic insects through a talk and an activity at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Weather permitting, this workshop will be outdoors. $4 per adult and $2 per child suggested donation. Space is limited; register by calling 303-651-8404. Same Service, New Names for RTD Routes
Effective August 27, four popular RTD route names will change. The L route will become LD1, LX will become LD2, LNX will become LX1, and LSX will become LX2. The service on these routes will remain the same. For more information visit rtd-denver.com or call 303-299-6000.

Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, August 26, at The Brewing Market, 1520 S. Hover St. You can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council members Moore and Christensen are scheduled to attend.
