Community Report Highlights Successes
The Envision Longmont Report to the Community is being mailed to all Longmont residents inside the Fall Recreation Guide beginning the week of August 6. This report provides a summary of the City’s recent accomplishments and offers a roadmap for a more resilient and prosperous community. The report also is available at the Longmont Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street, and online at LongmontColorado.gov/annualreport.

Recreation Facility Closures
Every year in late summer the City’s recreation facilities close for maintenance on systems and equipment. The St. Vrain Memorial Building at 700 Longs Peak Avenue will be closed August 6-11. 2nd Friday Fall Arts Preview
See what local arts groups have coming up in the Downtown Longmont Creative District from 6 to 9 pm on Friday, August 10. A variety of performing, visual and other arts groups will be featured at Downtown venues. Downtown also will host a Shop Loco Shop Mob all weekend. Sales and Use Tax Seminar
Do you have questions about the business sales and use tax in Longmont? A free seminar that will answer all your questions will be held from 10 am to noon on Wednesday, August 8, at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. Volunteer Fair at the Library
Head to the Library at 409 4th Avenue between 10 am and noon on Saturday, August 11, to learn how you can help strengthen our community by volunteering. At the Library’s second annual Volunteer Fair for adults and teens, area nonprofits and volunteer groups will distribute information about their work and show you how you can help out. No registration is necessary; just stop by the Library and discover the opportunities that await you.

Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, August 11. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. Recruiting On-scene Victim Advocates
The Longmont Police Department Victim Services program is seeking victim advocate volunteers. Victim advocates provide crisis intervention, support, and referrals to victims of crime and traumatic incidents. Training covers a wide variety of topics, and you’ll learn about crisis intervention and the criminal justice system. The application deadline is August 31; training begins September 11. Register Now for Fall Activities
Look for the City of Longmont’s Fall 2018 Recreation & Golf Services’ activities brochure online now at LongmontColorado.gov/rec. This issue covers activities, fitness classes, programs, and special events from September through December.
