Mayor Peck Hosts Transportation Meeting
Longmont Mayor Joan Peck is inviting the community to join her and several Colorado transportation representatives to discuss the challenges facing Longmont and neighboring communities from 9-11 am on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Longmont Library Meeting Rooms, 409 Fourth Ave. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is sending a representative from his office. In addition, officials from the Regional Transportation District (RTD), Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Front Range Passenger Rail, and the City of Longmont are scheduled to participate. Longmont Lights display
Enjoy the magic of the newly designed sparkling lights display and free outdoor family activities on Dec. 9-10 in Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Ave., during the City’s annual holiday celebration, Longmont Lights! The lights, sponsored by First National Bank, are lit nightly through early January 2023. Visit longmontcolorado.gov/LongmontLights for more information. 

Longmont Lights Friday Festival
From 5-8 pm on Friday, Dec. 9, take a stroll around Roosevelt Park that will be filled with lights and activities including the Home Depot Santa’s Workshop (5-7:30 pm) at the St. Vrain Memorial Building; visits with Santa at the Longmont Senior Center; fire pits, hot cocoa carts, balloon glow, holiday music, food vendors and the annual fireworks show (7:45 pm). The Longmont Ice Pavilion will be open for ice skating from 7-9 pm with free skate rental courtesy of Bank of Colorado. Regular admission fees apply.

Saturday Parade of Lights
See the twinkling floats during the Jingle All the Way holiday parade as they make their way down Coffman Street and Main Street starting at 5 pm on Saturday, Dec. 10. Don’t miss Santa as he waves to all a good night. It’s not too late to be a part of the parade! Monday is the deadline for all parade float applications. Call 303-774-4694 to apply.

Visit with Longmont Police Officers
The conversation is brewing! Longmont Police officers will be hosting Coffee with a Cop from 10 am-noon on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Ziggi’s Coffee, 1139 Francis St. Mark your calendar and plan on joining us. We hope to see you there!

Open House: Ward Redistricting Options
Ward redistricting involves changing the boundaries of city wards to better balance the population numbers of them. Join City Clerk staff from 5-6:15 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the Civic Center Mall area, 350 Kimbark St., to learn more about the ward redistricting process and to give your feedback on the three boundary adjustment options. Take-home festive cookie decorating kits
Back by popular demand, the Longmont Library’s cookie decorating kits will be available to bring a little joy to your winter break plans! Each kit contains four cookies, a container of frosting and a container of sprinkles for you to get creative with. Registration will open on Monday, Dec. 12 and is required at bit.ly/LibKids or at the Children’s and Teens’ desk (one kit/family). Please pick up your kit at the Children’s’ and Teens’ desk starting at 9 am on Wednesday, Dec. 21 until 5 pm on Friday, Dec. 23 (no late pick-ups).

Big Kid Ornament Making at Museum
Create Christmas and winter holiday decorations with the young people in your life at the Longmont Museum on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 3:30 pm! We’ll be crafting and creating keepsakes that will delight for years to come. Learn more and register at longmontmuseum.org or call 303-651-8374.

Caregiving for Young Children Class: Self-Care
Join early childhood mental health professionals from 6-7:30 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Longmont Library for this free course that will use brain science to understand the importance of self-care as it relates to co-regulation. We will also give participants an opportunity to learn more self-care strategies. These strategies will support positive self-care practices as well as in the moment strategies to manage intense moments. This is a free course for ALL caregivers: parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles and neighbors who care for children birth- 5 years old. No registration required. Questions? Call 303-651-8477.

Recreation gift certificates can be purchased in any amount and can be redeemed in-person, over the phone, and online for drop-in classes, activity registration and passes. Annual “Holiday Show” at Museum
The Longmont Museum’s holiday tradition is back for its seventh year on Saturday, Dec. 3! Join us for the 3 pm show or 7 pm show for songs of the season and holiday cheer from some of the finest musicians and performers in the region, including Hazel Miller, the Boulder Klezmer Consort and The Mestas Abbott Quartet.
