Holiday Schedules for City Facilities
Most City facilities will be closed Monday, Feb. 21, in observance of the Presidents Day holiday. The Waste Diversion Center will be closed. Trash, recycling and compost will be collected one day later than usual. Recreation facilities and the Longmont Museum will remain open. Ideas Sought on Sugar Mill + STEAM Sub-Area Planning Effort
Please join us, virtually, on March 2, 2022 from 5 to 6:30 pm to discuss the Sugar Mill + STEAM sub area planning project! During this community forum, the project team will provide an overview of the project, present a summary of feedback to date, and gather additional input from the community. The team will also discuss the development of plan alternatives.
In-person Coffee with Council on Saturday, Feb 26

Middle School Soccer: Now Hiring Coaches!
The City of Longmont middle school soccer program is for 6th-8th graders who attend participating schools. After-school practices begin the week of March 7; days and times are school specific. Teams will play one game per week on weekdays beginning March 28. No practice or games during SVVSD Spring Break (March 21-25). Longmont Public Safety Citizen Academy
The Longmont Department of Public Safety is offering a free four-week Citizen Academy class led by firefighters, police officers and professional Public Safety staff to give Longmont residents a better understanding and a behind-the-scenes look at the efforts of their first responders. Classes will run every Wednesday in April from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Fire Station 3, 1000 Pace St. For more information on the course or to sign up, go to LongmontColorado.gov and search “citizens academy.” The deadline for applications is Tuesday, March 15, by 5 pm.
‘The Longmonster’ Talk Show
Join the Longmont Museum for the next episode of The Longmonster, a late-night-style talk show in the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium, starting at 7 pm on Thursday, Feb. 24. We’ll chat with Elaine Waterman about the Firehouse Arts Center, and archaeologist Marilyn Martorano and composer Michael Udow about ancient musical instruments discovered nearby. Sign Up For Emergency Reverse Notification
If police or fire had to reach you in an emergency, could we? Anyone living within Longmont city limits that no longer has a landline in their home and wants to receive police and fire emergency reverse notifications must register. These communication devices may include, but are not limited to cell phones, VOIP (voice over internet protocol), email, etc. For registration and frequently asked questions, visit LongmontColorado.gov and search “reverse notification.”
Order Free COVID Tests Through USPS
Residential households in the U.S. can now order one set of four free at-home COVID tests from the U.S. Postal Service, with a limit of one order per residential address. Each order includes four individual rapid antigen COVID-19 tests. Order your tests at special.usps.com/testkits.
Teen-Powered Dungeons & Dragons
Calling all teenage D&D lovers! Sixth through 12th-graders who have experience playing Dungeons & Dragons are invited to play friendly campaigns from 6-7:30 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of every month from February through May at the Longmont Library. The most experienced players will Dungeon Master. This is a teen-powered program! Participants will have to work together cooperatively to create the playing experience.
