Landfill Drop Day
Longmont residents can take one level pickup load FREE of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 7 am to 2 pm on Saturday, February 9. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversized loads and second loads will be billed accordingly. Community Conversation on Gun Violence
The community is invited to the second Safety AND Respect conversation on action planning to end the risk of gun violence in Longmont from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, February 27, at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. A Spanish-language session of Sales and Use Tax training is being held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, February 21, at Longmont Chamber Area of Commerce, 528 Main St. This free event will help you learn how to navigate the maze of taxes your business must collect. Children ages 7-12 can enjoy a day of swimming, gym time, climbing wall, and crafts from 9 am to 4 pm at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. Take snacks, lunch, swimsuit, towel and gym shoes. Dates are Friday, February 15, and Monday, February 18. The cost is $40 per resident, per day. Celebrate Chinese New Year
Join several community groups to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Pig from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, February 16, at Silver Creek High School, 4901 Nelson Road. Enjoy food tastings, a lion dance, music, arts and crafts, and a virtual reality look at China’s past, present and future. This event is free and open to the public. Free Legal Clinic
A free walk-in Legal Clinic will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 19, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. You can speak to attorneys at no charge about immigration law, criminal law, family law, collections, bankruptcy, employment law, fair housing, landlord/tenant law, consumer issues, personal injury, probate, and Social Security. Become a Volunteer Victim Advocate
Victim advocates help crime victims and survivors of traumatic incidents regain their physical, emotional, social and economic well-being. Volunteers must be 21 or older and live within 30 minutes of Longmont city limits. For more information and an application visit bit.ly/LongmontVictimAdvocates.
Longmont city government observes the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, February 18. All City facilities will be closed except Recreation facilities, which will be open regular hours. Trash, recycling and composting collection will be collected one day later than normal during the week.
