Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Take your boxed or bagged documents to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, January 11, to safely and securely recycle your private documents. This is for residential documents only; no business materials will be accepted. Also take identification and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. Speak to Council at Open Forum
The Longmont City Council will hold an Open Forum on Tuesday, January 21, in place of the regular city council meeting. At this forum, members of the public may speak to council for five minutes on any topic. The forum will begin at 7 pm in the City Council Chambers at 350 Kimbark Street. If you would like to speak, plan to come early to put your name on the speakers list.

Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. King
All Cultures One Voice presents an inspirational and educational program celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from 10 am to noon on Monday, January 20, at Silver Creek High School, 4901 Nelson Road. This event features keynote speaker Judge Carolyn Blackett and performances by the Colorado Heritage Community Choir, Silver Creek High School Jazz Band, cultural dancers and more. Learn About Sister Cities at 2020 Meeting
The public is invited to attend the annual meeting of Longmont Sister Cities at 6:30 pm on Thursday, January 16, at the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. The Longmont Sister Cities Association nurtures partnerships with cities and civic groups around the world to promote cultural awareness. Recreation Services’ personal trainers will inspire you to develop healthy habits and routines through safe and effective instruction and motivation.  Take advantage of this January-only special and get bonus sessions when you purchase a personal training package. Buy five sessions, get one free. Buy 10 sessions, get two free. Purchase your sessions by January 31 at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, or call 303-774-4752 for help finding the right trainer for you. Each session is one hour. Improve Your Tech Skills at the Tech Café
If you’re just beginning to use digital devices or if you have questions about technology, drop in at the Tech Café from 10 to 11 am on the second Monday of each month beginning January 13 at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. The digital services librarian will discuss a specific aspect of software or hardware followed by time for your questions. Bring your smartphone, laptop or tablet. No registration is necessary for this free program, and each meeting is a stand-alone session.
