Holiday schedules for City facilities

Most City facilities will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Trash, recycling and compost will be collected one day later throughout the week. Recreation facilities, including the Ice Pavilion in Roosevelt Park, will be open. Find schedules at longmontcolorado.gov/holidays. Attend a celebration in Boulder County starting at 10 am on Monday, Jan. 16, at Silver Creek High School. Activities include various performances, youth activities, cultural expressions and more. City Council Open Forum

The Longmont City Council will host the semi-annual Open Forum starting at 7 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Residents are invited to speak for 5 minutes each with Council members and the Mayor on any topic of their choice. Information about how to participate can be found on the agenda for the Open Forum that will be published to the City’s website, or call the City Clerk’s Office for more information at 303-651-8649.

Open House: Ward Redistricting

Ward redistricting involves changing the boundaries of city wards to better balance the population numbers of them. Join City Clerk staff from 10 -11:30 am on Saturday, Jan. 28, in the Civic Center Mall area, 350 Kimbark St., to learn more about the Ward Redistricting process and to give your feedback on the three boundary adjustment options. Discovery Days resume at Museum

Discovery Days is an early childhood program that encourages children ages 2 to 6 and their parents or caregivers to engage together in educational, hands-on art, music, and movement activities. Drop-in sessions each Tuesday through Friday from Jan. 17 – May 5. Attend a session that fits your schedule—no registration needed. $4.50 per child/per session. Drop-in board game night at Library

The winter doldrums getting you down? Grab some friends and family and spend the evening playing board games (and maybe some giant lawn games) at the Longmont Library from 5:30-7:30 pm on Thursday, Jan. 19. “Duality” art exhibit opening reception

Be among the first to explore the Longmont Museum’s new art exhibit, “Duality: Contemporary Works by Indigenous Artists” during the opening reception held in the Longmont Museum’s Swan Atrium from

Special Family Storytime with picture book author Elizabeth Everett

Windows to Wellness Health Fair

Keep your resolutions alive and enjoy a day of wellness. Explore the Windows to Wellness Fair from 9 am–2 pm on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave. Meet alternative wellness practitioners and holistic healers offering individualized sessions. Each 10-minute session is $10 or 20 minutes for $20 – please bring cash and sign up early. In addition, free classes will be offered throughout the day. While waiting for your appointment, catch a health talk and check out the many wellness-related vendors. Doors open at 8:30 am and admission is free. Itty Bitty City Preschool Playtime

Itty Bitty City is back on Fridays from 9-11 am through May 12 at the Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave. Snow or shine, our toys are divine! Kids ages 6 months to 5 years have lots of room to run and play in the gym. Parents must supervise their children. Kids’ Creative Movement Class at Library

Join Mimi of Anima Arts from 11-11:30 am on Saturday, Jan. 14, in the Longmont Library Meeting Rooms for creative movement classes celebrating the way children experience the world: through curiosity, exploration and play! Celebrate the Chinese New Year

Celebrate Chinese New Year from 2-5 pm on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Silver Creek High School, 4901 Nelson Road. Sponsored by the Asian-Pacific Association of Longmont, this free annual event is a Zero Waste Event and open to the public. Lion Dance and performances begin at 2 pm and includes cultural performances, games, hands-on activity booths and Chinese food samplings. Learn more at the A-Pal website.

Wintertime BINGO at the Library

Don’t let the cold and the dark of winter get you down; spend your indoor time playing Wintertime BINGO with the Longmont Public Library! Patrons will be able to pick up their BINGO cards from the Library or download the cards on the Library website. Completed BINGOs must be turned in no later than 5 pm on Sunday, Jan. 8 for kids and teens and no later than 8 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, for adults. During the timeframe, read books, watch movies, listen to audiobooks, check out Experience/Destination bags, or a combination of everything, and when you have a BINGO, turn in your card to the Reference Desk upstairs or at the Children’s and Teens’ area desk and win prizes!
