City Holiday Schedule
Longmont city government observes the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 20. Most City facilities are closed, but the Longmont Museum and all Recreation facilities are open regular hours. Trash, recycling and composting collection will be one day later than usual throughout the week. See holiday schedules.

Speak to Council at Open Forum
The Longmont City Council will hold an Open Forum on Tuesday, January 21, in place of the regular city council meeting. At this forum, members of the public may speak to council for five minutes on any topic. The forum will begin at 7 pm in the City Council Chambers at 350 Kimbark Street. If you would like to speak, plan to come early to put your name on the speakers list.

Coffee with Council
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, January 25, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Martin and Christensen are scheduled to attend. Join the Longmont Chamber of Commerce and learn how to use Wills and Trusts to ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death. Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. King
All Cultures One Voice presents an inspirational and educational program celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from 10 am to noon on Monday, January 20, at Silver Creek High School, 4901 Nelson Road. This event features keynote speaker Judge Carolyn Blackett and performances by the Colorado Heritage Community Choir, Silver Creek High School Jazz Band, cultural dancers and more. New Exhibit at the Longmont Museum
Colorado artist Terry Maker mines commonplace materials, cutting and combining them into dense and tactile wall reliefs and large-scale freestanding sculptures. Join the Longmont Museum from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, January 24, to celebrate the opening of this one-of-a-kind exhibit with light hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and DJ Marlowe spinning vinyl (because it’s also round). The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and free for members. Cocktail attire requested, dancing recommended. SilverSneakers® & Renew Active Programs™
The SilverSneakers and Renew Active (UnitedHealthcare) recreation programs are available at no cost to Medicare participants with select insurance plans. Both include use of facility amenities and group fitness classes with unlimited daily admission at the Longmont Recreation Center, Centennial Pool, and the St. Vrain Memorial Building. Celebrate Chinese NewYear
In partnership with Silver Creek Leadership Academy (SCLA), the Asian-Pacific Association of Longmont (A-PAL) presents its 10th annual Chinese New Year Celebration on February 8, 2020 at Silver Creek High School from 2 to 5 pm. The community is invited to usher in the Year of the Rat with a special Lantern Festival. Come and immerse yourselves in a day of live cultural performances, such as the Chinese Lion Dance, Taiko Drumming, and Kung-Fu presentations; a quarter mile of interactive cultural/educational booths; live music; two art shows; robotics and virtual reality activities; and Asian food tasting. A-PAL’s 200 volunteers will be ready to serve an expected 2,000 participants, and Longmont Mayor Brian Bagley will serve as Master of Ceremonies. This event is free and open to the public.
