Longmont Startup Week 2017, July 24 – July 28, brings together entrepreneurs, wanna-preneurs, creatives, techies, inventors, business owners, and investors to connect and inspire. Over the course of five days, multiple events, panels and speakers will be hosted throughout Longmont, showcasing this area’s startup community in tech, bioscience, creative arts, culinary, and more. Event topics include design, development, marketing, finance, legal, and entrepreneur basics. All events are FREE and provide outstanding learning and networking opportunities. Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, July 15. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. Coffee with Council 
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, July 22, at the Firehouse Art Center, 667 4th Avenue. You can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council members Peck and Christensen are scheduled to attend. Ghost Stories from the Ranch
Take your picnic, chairs and blankets and enjoy stories grounded in the history of the Coffin house from 5:30 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 18, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Please consider carpooling due to limited parking, and please, no pets. No registration needed. 

Adult Glow Swim at Sunset Pool
Break out your glow gear and join the party at Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Avenue, from 9:30 to 11:30 pm on Thursday, July 20. Enjoy glow-themed games, music, and of course, swimming! The cost is $8/person or $14/couple at the gate; recreation passes are not valid. Don’t miss this fun, alcohol-free event geared for adults 18 and older. For more information, call 303-651-8406. Music and Movies This Week at the Library
Head to the Library’s west patio at 409 4th Avenue to enjoy the Longmont Symphony Orchestra’s Percussion Trio Family Concert from 10 to 10:45 am on Thursday, July 20. Come back on Friday, July 21, for a movie and popcorn with the Family Film Series feature presentation “The LEGO Movie.” Movies begin at 2 pm; free tickets are distributed beginning at 1:30. Children age 9 and younger must be accompanied by a dedicated caregiver age 16 or older. Registration is not required.

Callahan House Ice Cream Social
Celebrate Longmont hospitality from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, July 23, at the Historic Callahan House and Garden Ice Cream Social and Open House at312 Terry Street. The Callahan family donated their lovely Queen Anne home and garden to the City of Longmont in 1938. Now, almost 80 years later, you can visit this gracious historic home while helping raise funds for the home. The cost is $15/person or $20 at the door (includes a $10 donation). Volunteer for Fun Downtown Events
Downtown Longmont is looking for energetic volunteers to help at the Downtown Summer Concert on Friday, July 28, and at the Downtown Block Party on Saturday, August 26. Concert volunteers help with setup or monitor gates while Block Party volunteers help with setup or the Amazing Race, or monitor activity.
