Fight the Bite
Be smart and protect yourself from mosquito bites – and West Nile virus – this summer.
• Use an insect repellant that contains at least 10% DEET or an alternative
• Dress in long sleeves and pants
• Minimize outdoor activity between dusk and dawn
• Drain standing water
To see a quick indicator of the West Nile virus risk level, spray maps and more, visit LongmontColorado.gov/westnile or the City’s Facebook page. You can subscribe to receive eNotifications about West Nile virus and scheduled spraying.
National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 2, brings neighbors together and strengthens community partnerships with local police and fire departments. It’s easy to host your own neighborhood event. Cool Savings in a Hot Time from Efficiency Works
When summer hits, electricity use can soar. Make sure you’re saving energy by getting an Efficiency Works home audit. You pay $60 for a home energy audit that would normally cost $385, and you can apply for rebates to offset the cost of many home improvements, such as new air conditioning. Participants must be Longmont Power & Communications customers and have a home that’s at least 12 months old. If that’s you, call Efficiency Works at 877-981-1888 to get started today.
