Get in Gear with Bike to Work Day
Jump into Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 27, with the City of Longmont’s breakfast stations from 6:30 to 9 am. Visit the new Longmont Service Center station at 1100 S. Sherman Street to enjoy fruit and a breakfast burrito, courtesy of Public Works & Natural Resources and Longmont Power & Communications. You also can enter to win one of two $25 Downtown Longmont gift cards! Or start the day at the Longmont Civic Center at 350 Kimbark Street with pancakes and sausages from the Columbine Lions Club of Longmont. Celebrate Aviation at the Airport Expo
Come out to Vance Brand Airport at 229 Airport Road for the family-friendly Airport Expo from 7 am to 3 pm on Saturday, June 23. See vintage, military and experimental aircraft; enjoy aerobatic performances and skydiving demonstrations; take an airplane ride; taste some great food, including a pancake breakfast from 7 to 9 am; and hear former astronaut Vance Brand, the airport’s namesake. Apply for Longmont Housing Authority Board
Residents are invited to serve on the Longmont Housing Authority’s board as official volunteer advisors to Longmont City Council. Applicants must reside within Longmont city limits and be registered voters of Longmont for at least one year prior to being appointed. Visit bit.ly/longmontapp for more information and to apply. PC Magazine Ranks NextLight Fastest ISP in U.S.
PC Magazine declared NextLight™ the fastest internet service provider in the country, placing the community-owned internet provider at the top of its annual speed rankings. In 2017, PC Magazine ranked Longmont as the fastest city in the U.S., and gave NextLight credit for it. In that year’s ranking, the magazine referred to local utilities such as NextLight as “the best hope we’ve got for mega-fast internet service in this country.”

St. Vrain Greenway Trail Reopens at Sandstone Ranch
The St. Vrain Greenway between County Line Trailhead and the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center is now open to the public. The trail was destroyed in the 2013 flood that severely damaged much of Longmont. Restoration of this portion of the greenway was completed as part of the first phase of Longmont’s Resilient St. Vrain Project (RSVP), an extensive, multi-year undertaking to restore the St. Vrain Greenway and improve the St. Vrain Creek channel to protect people and property from future flooding.

Summer Fun for Kids at the Library 
Start your week of summer fun with Maker Monday from 2 to 4 pm on June 25. Then, on Tuesday and Wednesday return for a special storytime, Backyard Nature & Science for Families, at 10:15 am. On Thursday, June 28, relax on the west patio while Mr. Kneel’s Hip Hop Summer Show performs from 10 to 10:45 am as part of the Live! at the Library series. Head back to the library on Friday, June 29, for the free Friday Family Film “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” (rated PG). Tickets are handed out beginning at 1:30 pm. These programs are all at the Library at 409 4th Avenue. Registration is not required, but all children age 9 and younger must be accompanied by a dedicated caretaker. Adult Glow Swim at Sunset Pool
Adults age 18 and older are invited to join Recreation & Golf Services for a night of swimming, games, prizes and music in glow style from 9:30 to 11:30 pm on Thursday, June 28, at Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Avenue. Admission includes two glow sticks per person. Cost is $8/person or $14/couple; passes are not valid. No preregistration required. Questions? Call 303-651-8406.

Sign Up Now for Roger’s River Run 5K 
Get ready to GLOW at the Roger’s River Run 5K, sponsored by UCHealth at 7:30 pm on Friday, July 13, during Rhythm on the River at Roger’s Grove, 220 Hover Street. Wear your glow and party apparel, and run, walk or dance the 5K all the way to the finish line, followed by after-race goodies, glow-tastic specialty awards, and the Overall Male and Female award ceremony. Early-bird registration fees by noon on July 12 are $20 for adults/$15 for youth 14 and younger and seniors 60 and older. Race day fees increase $5 on a space available basis.
