City Holiday Hours on Tuesday
Longmont city government observes the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday,
July 4. All facilities will be closed except these Recreation facilities with special hours:
Longmont Recreation Center – 10 am to 4 pm; Roosevelt Activity Pool – 10 am to
4 pm; Kanemoto Activity Pool – 10 am to 5 pm; Sunset Pool – 9 to 10 am for lap
swim, 10 am to 5 pm for open swim, and a special AquaZumba class at 9 am; Union
Reservoir Swim Beach – 10 am to 8 pm. Following the holiday, trash, recycling and
composting will be collected one day later than usual throughout the rest of the week.

Celebrate the 4th with Music and Fireworks
Begin your holiday fun at 11 am on Tuesday, July 4, with a picnic and the
annual free holiday concert by the Longmont Symphony Orchestra at
Thompson Park, 4th Avenue and Bross Street. Then, at about 9:30 pm, enjoy
the explosion of fireworks over Longmont. The best view is from within one mile
of the Boulder County Fairgrounds. Handicap-accessible parking is available at the
fairgrounds’ south Nelson Road entrance with permit. Special thanks to the Skyline
Kiwanis Club, whose generous donation helps make this event possible.

West Nile Virus Mosquito Found Near Longmont
A mosquito carrying the West Nile Virus recently was found in Larimer County. When West Nile mosquitoes are found in the Longmont area (the three county region of Boulder, Larimer and Weld) and local mosquito traps exceed 100 adult mosquitoes, the City will begin spraying in specific predetermined areas to help control the threat. It is very likely that Longmont’s mosquito control contractor will be spraying on the evening of July 6 based on trap counts.

Need Us on the 4th? LPC Will Rocket to Help
As you enjoy Independence Day, Longmont Power & Communications knows
your home should be lit by more than the twilight’s last gleaming. A typical
Longmont home can go years without an outage, but in the unlikely event that an
electrical or broadband issue arises, call the LPC outage line at 303-776-0011
or the main office at 303-651-8386. These lines are monitored 24 hours a day,
but email and Facebook messages will not be seen until the dawn’s early light, when
the offices reopen July 5. Have a happy Fourth!
