Coffee with Council
Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, March 30, at Perkins Restaurant, 2051 Main Street. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Finley and Waters are scheduled to attend. Longmont CAReS Program Starts April 1
Longmont residents who need help paying their bills can apply for rebates from the City of Longmont beginning on April 1. The City offers a grocery sales tax rebate, a tax/rent rebate, a park and greenway maintenance fee rebate, a water bill rebate, an electric bill discount, and an electric life support discount. Visit LongmontColorado.gov/LongmontCares on April 1 to check eligibility requirements and to fill out the application form.
Bicycle Friendly Driver Class
Ever wonder why bicyclists ride where they do and do what they do? A free class, presented by the Traffic Safety Fund for all users of our roadways, will be held from 5:30 to 7 pm on Tuesday, April 2, at Shoes & Brews, 63 S. Pratt Parkway. Register for Day Camp and Summer Fun!
Keep your kids busy and active this summer. The 2019 Recreation & Golf Services activities brochure was mailed to Longmont residents last week and is online at LongmontColorado.gov/rec. Registration begins Tuesday, April 2, for classes, camps and events from mid-May through August. Registration is ongoing for youth and adult programs including licensed day care for ages 5-13 (must have completed kindergarten). For more information, call 303-651-8404.
Second Wildlife Management Plan Meeting
Join us for a second meeting to discuss the Wildlife Management Plan Update from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, April 4, at the Sunset Campus, 7 S. Sunset Street. This meeting will focus on pollinators, native fish of St. Vrain Creek, conflicts with wildlife, species that enrich Longmont’s quality of life, and wildlife diversity. Garden Story Time at the Library
Join Growing Gardens for a special garden-themed story time from 11 to 11:30 am on Friday, April 5, at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. We’ll read books about gardens, explore the parts of a plant, and plant our very own seed to take home and care for. Grown-ups, be sure to visit our new Free Seed Library on your way through the lobby to get some seeds of your own. This story time is for families with young children and does not require registration.
Shred Your Private Documents for Free
Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, April 6. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill. Ralph Price Reservoir Permit Sale
Annual fishing permits for Ralph Price Reservoir go on sale at 8 am on Monday, April 1. A Colorado Parks & Wildlife fishing license is required at all City of Longmont fishing areas. An additional special permit from the City of Longmont is required at Ralph Price Reservoir inside Button Rock Preserve. Permits will be on sale in Longmont and Lyons at the cost of $20 for City of Longmont and Town of Lyons water utility customers, and $30 for others. Be Ready for Curbside Tree Limb Collection
The City of Longmont is offering residents FREE curbside collection of tree limbs. Your tree limbs must be placed curbside by 7 am on the Monday of your scheduled collection week. Limbs will be collected at residences north of 9th Avenue April 1-5. Limbs will be collected at residences south of 9th Avenue April 8-12. Limbs must be stacked and cut into lengths no longer than 6 feet. No limb can be larger than 6 inches in diameter. Help Plan Art Along the St. Vrain Greenway
Art in Public Places is seeking input from community members on projects along the St. Vrain Greenway from Sandstone Ranch to Airport Road. Whether you’re an artist, a trail user or an interested community member, you can voice your opinion about artwork, locations, and what keeps you moving along the trail. Join the Citywide Clean-up, Green-up
Groups, families and individuals are invited to help spruce up Longmont April 6-30. Volunteers can pick a park, greenway, street, alley or open space to clean up, or an area of need can be assigned. The Grand Kick-off for the monthlong campaign is from 7:30 to 10:30 am on Saturday, April 6, at Sunset Campus, 7 S. Sunset Street. If you can’t participate on kick-off day, you can help “Clean-up, Green-up” through April 30. Swim, bike and run! Longmont Recreation Services, along with Altitude Physical Therapy, presents the annual Longmont Triathlon Weekend for children and adults June 1-2.
