Recycle It Right!
What happens if you put unrecyclable items like plastic bags and trash in your recycling bin? These types of items can contaminate the recycling system, cause costly damage to the processing equipment, and must be sorted out and sent to landfills, which raises costs for the facility. That’s why it’s important to understand how to Recycle It Right! You can get the Waste Wizard right on your phone through the Waste Services App, which will help you know what can and can’t be recycled, as well as reminding you about events and resources in your area. Visit the Longmont website for more information about recycling and download the Waste Services App today to help you know how to Recycle It Right!
Stay safe – call before you dig!
Spring is a popular time to dig into yard work and construction projects … but if you’re not careful, you could dig right into a utility line! Remember, Colorado law requires you to call 811 at least three business days before you do any excavation work, so that all utilities in the area can be notified and mark their lines with paint or flags. Breaking a utility line can be expensive and even dangerous for services like power or gas lines, so always remember to call before you dig! For more information, go to the Longmont website search “Before You Dig.”
Spring branch collection
The City of Longmont offers a FREE curbside collection of tree branches each spring. Branches must be placed curbside before 7 am on the MONDAY of your scheduled collection week and remain at the curb until picked up. Citywide branch collection runs from April 1-5 for residences north of 9th Avenue and from April 8-12 for areas south of 9th Avenue. For complete tips and guidelines, call 303-651-8416 or visit the Longmont website. To get notifications and see tips directly on your phone, download the Waste Services app!
