Most City Facilities Closed Monday
Longmont city government observes the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 30. These facilities will be CLOSED: Civic Center, Service Center, Library, Museum, Senior Center, Youth Center, Development Services Center, St. Vrain Memorial Building, Roosevelt Activity Pool, Centennial Pool, and Waste Diversion Center. The Longmont Recreation Center will be open from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sunset Pool and Kanemoto Activity Pool will be open from 10 am to 5 pm. Trash and recycling will be collected one day later than normal during this week.

Summer Meal Program 
The City of Longmont and its community partners will offer meals at no cost for families, Monday through Thursday, from May 31 through April 4. Meal locations are the Longmont Youth Center, Countryside Village, Rothrock Dell Park, Ed and Ruth Lehman YMCA, and Frederick Centennial Park. Longmont Partners with Weigh and Win to Provide Incentivized Weight Loss to City Employees
The City of Longmont has extended its partnership with Weigh and Win to focus on reaching City employees and increasing awareness around the importance of worksite wellness. Thanks to support from Kaiser Permanente, a mobile Weigh and Win kiosk will be rotating quarterly between department buildings starting June 7. The kiosk will also be available to the public at specified community events. Weigh and Win is a free, measureable weight improvement program that pays Colorado adults (18 and older) to achieve a healthy weight. Piano Concert with Dr. Alexandra Nguyen
Dr. Alexandra Nguyen, assistant professor of collaborative piano at CU-Boulder, will discuss her journey from premed student to accomplished musician and teacher followed by a short recital from 2 to 3 pm on Friday, May 27, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. It’s Time to Swim Outdoors!
Longmont’s Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Avenue, opens for the season on Friday, May 27. The heated pool features six lap lanes, a large wading area, three diving boards, and two fast and fun waterslides. Kanemoto Activity Pool, 1151 S. Pratt Parkway, a heated activity pool for youth age 10 and younger, will celebrate its grand reopening from noon to 5 pm on Friday, May 27, with a special $5 per family admission fee and free refreshments. Hear Molly Kate Brown at the Library
Local author Molly Kate Brown never imagined that her romantic honeymoon to India would be transformed by an excruciating and life-changing illness that rendered her temporarily unable to walk. Her slow physical recovery and transformative emotional journey are recounted in candid authenticity in her book “Learning to Walk in India: A Love Story.” From 7 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 2, Brown will bring her story to the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. 36th Annual Longmont Triathlon Weekend
Put your swim suit, bike and tennis shoes to use! The Longmont Triathlon Weekend is for triathletes of all ages and ability. The Kids’ Only event and the Try-a-Tri are on Saturday, June 4; the Longmont Triathlon is on Sunday, June 5. Register by June 1 at LongmontColorado.gov/rec or call 303-651-8406. Volunteers are needed as course marshals who cheer and direct the runners and bikers on the race course. See The Zinghoppers at the Library
Take a break with the kids from 10 to 10:45 am on Thursday, June 2, to see Emmy Award-winning performers The Zinghoppers at the Longmont Public Library, 409 4th Avenue. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the fun on the library’s west patio. Registration is not required.

Fun Fridays for Kids!
Kids age 2 through 12 can enjoy weekly themed crafts and activities from 9 to 11 am every Friday in June and July (closed July 1) at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Parents must supervise their children. Due to limited parking, carpooling is encouraged. Fun Fridays are free with a $2 per child suggested donation to cover the cost of the craft supplies. “Build-a-BiBli” at the Library Robotics Workshop

The Longmont Public Library is once again teaming up with local robotics engineer Jalali Hartman to offer a one-of-a-kind robotics workshop for children age 9 and older. At the “Build-a-Bibli Robotics Workshop” from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, June 4, children can design and create new appearances for the BiBlis, our library robots. This special program is limited to eight participants and will be held at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. Call 303-651-8477 to register.

Landlord Alliance: Service Animals in Rentals
From 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, June 8, the Longmont Landlord Alliance will present a discussion of service and companion animals in rentals and why the difference between the two is important.
