Next Phase for the Sugar Factory + STEAM Plan Begins
Thank you for your continued interest in the Sugar Factory + STEAM subarea plan! The project team is exploring various plan alternatives and we want to hear from you. Please visit the project page on Engage Longmont to learn more about where we’ve been and where we are going as we continue working on this important planning project: https://engage.longmontcolorado.gov/sugar-mill-steam. On this page, we invite you to flip through a short presentation and compete a short survey to provide feedback on several high level plan alternatives. This feedback will be used to develop a preferred alternative, which will form the basis for the final plan that is expected to be presented to City Council this summer.

June Mayor’s Meetup — Housing
Longmont Mayor Joan Peck and Mayor Pro Tem Aren Rodriguez are hosting a series of meetups for Longmont residents to talk about specific topics that are important to the community. The next meeting — from 9-10 am on Saturday, June 4, at Fire Station #5 Community Room, 617 Barberry Drive — will focus on housing and the issues, challenges and work being done to provide housing for all. Unsure about the different strategies used when building affordable versus attainable housing? And what is the role of City government in this unpredictable housing market? Join us for a conversation about these aspects and more. For more information, contact the Longmont City Manager’s Office at 303-651-8601.

Longmont Power & Communications’ commercial building energy benchmarking program can help your business understand and better manage its electric usage, so that you can make the decisions that will allow you to save. Find out more, including how to get an energy score for your commercial or industrial building of 20,000 square feet and larger, at tinyurl.com/LPCbenchmarking or call 303-651-8700.

Annual Water Line Flushing Program Begins
Each spring, City of Longmont Water Utilities staff flush the main water lines to keep water quality at its highest level and to ensure that fire hydrants are operational. The benefits realized in water quality and fire protection far outweigh the comparatively small amount of water released during the flushing program. The 2022 flushing dates are scheduled now through May 20 (dates subject to change). Visit our interactive map for a weekly timeline of water line flushing by area. This map will be updated regularly to show which areas are upcoming for water line flushing, as well as which areas have been completed.
