Free Landfill Drop Day
The City of Longmont offers residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 14. Loads must be covered and secured; oversize loads and second loads will be billed. Please take a photo ID and a copy of your current utility bill to show that you are a City of Longmont customer. Reception for Sarah Levison
The public is invited to attend a reception for former City Council Member Sarah Levison, in honor of her service on the Longmont City Council, from 5:30 to 7 pm on Tuesday, November 17, at the Longmont Civic Center, 350 Kimbark Street. Light refreshments will be served.
Parents’ Night Out
When was your last date night? Girls’ or guys’ night out? Bring your children ages 5-10 to Centennial Pool, 1201 Alpine Street, from 5 to 9 pm on Saturday, November 14, for a fun, supervised evening of swimming and a movie while you enjoy a night out! A light dinner and snacks are included. The fee is $20 resident or $25 nonresident with a $2 multi-child discount. For more information or to register, call 303-651-8406. No day-of registration available.
Snoods and Caruncles – The Wild Turkeys of Boulder County
Join Boulder County volunteer naturalists from 10 to 11:30 am on Saturday, November 14, to learn about the identification, ecology, and behavior of wild turkeys. This program for all ages is free, but donations are welcome. Meet at the large shelter at Sandstone Ranch, 3001 E. Highway 119, and dress appropriately for an outdoor walking event. Kids on the Spectrum Event
The Force will be strong at the Longmont Public Library from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday, November 15, when it hosts children on the autism spectrum and their families for a day of all things Star Wars. Star Wars trivia! Star Wars movie clips! Star Wars LEGO building! Registration is required; call 303-651-8477 to reserve your space.
Tax Considerations for Small Business
The Small Business Development Center, in partnership with the Longmont Area Economic Council, Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Longmont, will offer a workshop to help small business owners understand business tax basics and get updates on filing requirements and how to handle items such as depreciation and health insurance. The class is from 8:30 to 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 18, at the Chamber office at 528 Main Street. This class is free for Longmont businesses. Register at BoulderSBDC.com/training/workshops.
Book Sale at the Library
Beginning at 4 pm on Thursday, November 19, and continuing through 4 pm on Sunday, November 22, the Friends of the Longmont Library will host its monthly book sale at the Library, 409 4th Avenue. All proceeds benefit the Library. Stop by and get a big stack of great books at bargain prices!
Be Part of the “Light Up the Night” Parade
The 2015 Longmont Lights Holiday Parade application is now available. Showcase your organization in lights on December 12! New in 2015, all parade entries are eligible for prizes. A panel of judges will make their selection before the parade begins, and each winning entry will be awarded a banner to proudly display along the route. For an application, contest judging criteria, and complete information, visit http://ow.ly/RLMeu. The application deadline is November 27.

Draw dinosaurs and dragons; paint a holiday gift; create with LEGOs and play indoor golf; or train to be a babysitter, swim instructor or lifeguard!
