LPC on Duty to Keep Thanksgiving Bright
Reliable power makes for a great Thanksgiving, whether it’s to cook dinner, call distant family, or simply enjoy the football game around the pumpkin pie. The internet can be just as valuable, especially if you have to find out who really scored that last touchdown. So even during the holidays, Longmont Power & Communications workers are on duty to make sure your electric and NextLight internet services stay as calm as a post-turkey nap. A typical Longmont home goes years between outages, but in the unlikely event of an electric or NextLight issue, call the LPC outage line at 303-776-0011 or the main office at 303-651-8386. Please don’t use email or Facebook messages for emergencies, since they will not be seen until the offices reopen November 27. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Free Law Clinic
A free Law Clinic will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, November 28, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Avenue. You can speak to attorneys at no charge about immigration law, criminal law, bankruptcy, family law, fair housing, collections, landlord/tenant law, consumer issues, personal injury, probate, Social Security, and employment law. For more information call 303-651-8444 or email Susan.Spaulding@LongmontColorado.gov.
Freeform LEGO® Building at the Library
Get the kids out of the house and away from their screens for an afternoon of fun building with LEGOs at the Longmont Public Library. Drop by at 409 4th Avenue, head to the Children’s Craft Room, and build to your heart’s content from 1 to 5 pm on Saturday, November 25. This is an unstructured event, and children younger than age 9 must be accompanied. No registration is required.
The City of Longmont is participating in a Fair Housing Study with the City and County of Denver, the City of Aurora, and all of the Boulder County communities to better understand residents’ housing choices and their experiences living, working, and going to school in the area. You can help by completing an online survey at denver-aurora-boulderafh.com/surveys and letting your friends and neighbors know about it, too. Paper copies also are available. All information is confidential, and the deadline is November 30. Those who take the survey will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card. For more information or to request a paper survey, call 303-774-4648 or email Molly.McElroy@LongmontColorado.gov.
