Holiday schedules for City facilities
Most City facilities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. The Longmont Library will be open on Friday, but closed on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Longmont Museum will be open on both Nov. 10 and Nov. 11. Recreation facilities are open regular hours on both Nov. 10 and 11. Streets around the Memorial Building will be closed during the Veterans Day parade on Nov. 11. Find schedules at the Holidays webpage.
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Longmont Sister Cities Student Exchange
Do you want to travel and learn about cultures other than your own? Are you an 8th-11th grade student within the St. Vrain Valley School district limits (charter schools and homeschoolers also welcome!)? Apply to become a Student Ambassador and travel to Japan, Mexico, or the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. Apply on the Longmont Sister Cities Association website. Applications close on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
Longmont Turkey Trot
Gobble, gobble, gobble, GO! Join the fun at 9 am on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Altona Middle School, 4600 Clover Basin Drive, for the annual Longmont Turkey Trot. Walk or run a scenic 2-mile or 10k course, including a wheelchair division. Register online at the Turkey Trot webpage or in-person at any Recreation facility until noon on Thursday, Nov. 9. Artists & Farmers in Conversation
Join the Longmont Museum for a free conversation with artists and farmers featured in the current “agriCULTURE” exhibition as they recount what they learned from working together and the surprising connections between farming and the creation of art. Learn about Longmont’s energy future
Take the opportunity to find out more about our community’s energy future. On Nov. 13, the Longmont Museum will host a free community session on the 2024 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) process for Platte River Power Authority, Longmont’s wholesale electric provider owned by Longmont, Loveland, Estes Park and Fort Collins. Once complete in 2024, this plan will serve as a road map for continuing to provide electricity that is reliable, financially sustainable and environmentally responsible. Friday Afternoon Concert: MishMish
Join the Museum for a Friday Afternoon Concert at 2:30 pm on Nov. 10. Blending ancient Eastern melody with Western influence and Latin rhythm, MishMish brings an electrifying Balkan-Arab fusion to Colorado, weaving together a groove-heavy sound that will make you want to get out of your seat and dance. $12 general admission, $10 students/seniors, $8 Museum members. Holiday Open Houses & Winter Passport Kickoff
Kick off the Holiday season in downtown Longmont on Saturday, November 11! Downtown small businesses will host Holiday Open Houses, and launch the 2023 Winter Passport program. RTD Open House: NW Rail Peak Service Study
RTD is hosting a public open house on Wednesday, Nov. 8 to provide information about the Northwest Rail Peak Service Study, including siding locations, ongoing community partnerships, and benefits and impacts for the proposed commuter rail between Longmont and Denver. Get health insurance through Boulder County
Boulder County Housing and Human Services’ health insurance open enrollment period starts Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2023, ending on Jan. 15, 2024.Individuals signed up by Dec. 15, 2023 will receive coverage on January 1, 2024. There are close to 20,000 uninsured people in Boulder County, including many Latinx individuals and young adults. People can access FREE confidential assistance at Boulder County website. Financial assistance may be available for those who qualify.

Longmont Ice Pavilion
The Longmont Ice Pavilion, 725 8th Ave., is a seasonal outdoor full-service ice rink facility, offering public ice skating, hockey, skating lessons, and private facility rentals. Registration for learn-to-skate and adult hockey skills classes begins today online or by calling 303-774-4700. Already an experienced skater? Get paid for doing what you love! We are now hiring learn-to-skate instructors, skate guards and ice rink supervisors. Training begins in early November with the Ice Pavilion season running Nov. 17 through March 6.
