Fall Harvest at Sandstone Ranch
Visit the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center at 3001 Sandstone Drive from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, October 12, to enjoy pumpkin painting, crafts, games, music, and more. All ages welcome. Bring a sack lunch, sunscreen and insect repellent. There is a $3/person or $10/family suggested donation collected at the event. No registration needed, but volunteers are. Serve Your Community on a City Board
The Longmont City Council is recruiting to fill vacancies on several advisory boards and commissions. Applicants must have lived in and been a registered voter of Longmont for at least one year prior to serving. Hear Renowned Doctor on Healing Trauma
From 6 to 9 pm on Monday, November 11, renowned neuroscientist and author Dr. Bruce Perry will speak about traumatized children – and adults – and their need for a healthy community to buffer pain, distress and loss caused by earlier trauma. In this presentation at Vance Brand Auditorium, 600 E. Mountain View Avenue, Perry will provide specific ideas on what each of us can do to be part of building a healthy community. Spend No-school Days at the Rec Center
Children ages 7-12 can enjoy a day of swimming, gym time, climbing wall, and crafts from 9 am to 4 pm on Friday, October 18, and Monday, October 21, at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road. Bring snacks, lunch, swimsuit and towel, and gym shoes. The cost is $40 per resident, per day.  Childcare is available before the program begins for an additional fee. After-school Pumpkin-painting Party
Head to the Library at 409 4th Avenue any time between 4 and 6 pm on Thursday, October 24, to paint a cute little personal pumpkin to take home and add flair to your holiday decor. It takes about 30 minutes to complete the craft. This program is for everyone age 18 and younger (younger than 9 must be accompanied by an adult). Register online at bit.ly/LibKids. No email? Pharmaceutical Take-back Event
The City of Longmont will host a Pharmaceutical Take-back Event from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, October 26, in the main lobby of Longmont United Hospital, 1950 Mountain View Avenue. Please remove names and personal information from prescriptions. Medical equipment, needles and illegal substances are not accepted. For more information, visit bit.ly/takeback-rx.

In early October, as part of the development of the Just Transition Plan, Longmont’s Sustainability Program will host “Environment and Us” workshops on how our environmental decisions affect our community in different ways. Longmont City Council will host the final 2019 Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, October 19, at Intercambio, 1715 Iron Horse Drive, Suite 130. At this event, you can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Mayor Bagley and Council Member Martin are scheduled to attend.
