Cheering brain with light bulb overhead

Top of the Class

Cheering brain with light bulb overheadIt’s not easy to stay on the honor roll. But Longmont just did it again.

The American Public Power Association has once more named Longmont Power & Communications a Smart Energy Provider. That doesn’t mean we’re going on “Jeopardy!” next week. Rather, it’s a way of recognizing utilities that make their communities better by providing efficient, sustainable and optimized electricity services.

LPC was among the very first utilities in the nation to earn this designation when it began in 2019.  Four years later, we’re still one of only 101 in the U.S. and one of four in Colorado. For the residents and businesses who rely on our power, that makes Longmont a pretty special place to be.

It reflects how easily they can connect to programs like Efficiency Works (or even free energy efficiency improvements) to realize energy savings.

It shows the continued commitment to and communication about areas such as distributed energy resources and building electrification that can reduce emissions and make Longmont a more sustainable place.

And of course, it’s about you: your experience with the reliable energy that Longmont delivers and the services we provide.

In short, it’s about supporting a community. The sort of thing that’s not just important for one moment in time, but over the long term.

We’re proud that Longmont is in smart company, and we look forward to seeing where our empowered community goes next.

Together, we’ll always be on our “A” game.
