Union Reservoir Swim Beach Closed for 2026 Season: Sunset Pool Opening in Time for Memorial Day Weekend

Union Reservoir Beach Closed for 2026

Due to anticipated low water levels throughout 2026, the Union Reservoir Swim Beach will be closed for the summer season. These conditions do not allow for the water depth needed to safely support traditional swim beach operations. We appreciate the community’s understanding as we adapt to these environmental factors.

While the swim beach will be unavailable, visitors can still enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities at Union Reservoir:

  • A designated wading area, up to three feet deep, will be available May 23-Sept 19. Please note this area has a natural clay and rocky surface. Use is at your own risk, and children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • The Dog Swim Beach will remain open for canine visitors.
  • Paddleboarding, kayaking and boating remain available, with water levels sufficient for launching and access from multiple points.
  • Additional sand has been added to the beach area which is great for sand play such as building castles and creating winding waterways.
  • Group and individual picnic sites with tables and grills are located throughout the park and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. (Grills are not allowed on the swim beach.)

Visit the Union Reservoir webpage or call the Ranger Line at 303-772-1265, ext. 5 for more information.
