UPDATED: State Highway 66 Railroad Work Originally Scheduled for December 7 and 8 is Now Postponed
Updated on Friday, Dec. 4 to include information about postponement.
BNSF has postponed the State Highway 66 (SH 66) railroad repairs originally scheduled for Dec. 7 and 8. The asphalt repairs will require a full closure of SH 66 between Alpine and Erfert Streets (east of Walmart). The City will share scheduling information as it becomes available.
Travelers are encouraged to avoid the area during the time of construction. A detour route through Longmont is available via Main Street, 17th Avenue and Pace Street, as shown on the map below.
BNSF has experienced periodic issues at the SH 66 rail crossing, leading to multiple temporary repairs earlier this year.
This railroad work is not a City of Longmont project, and the repairs are being coordinated by and paid for by BNSF and CDOT.
Updates on this project will be shared as available on the City of Longmont’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
