About the Opportunity
The City of Longmont’s Office of Sustainability is seeking volunteer drivers and navigators to help map the heat island effect across the city by collecting real-time temperature data on Saturday July 15 (weather permitting). The backup date is Saturday July 22.
If you are approved to volunteer for the Heat Watch campaign, you’ll be assigned a 1-hour driving route to navigate a 6am, 3pm, and/or 7pm. You may volunteer for one, two, or all three route times. Each team will be provided with a simple data collection device that attaches to your car window. In total, you can expect to volunteer for 2 – 6 hours.
All volunteers must complete a 1-hour training session, be at least 18 years old, and must sign a liability waiver. Drivers must have access to a reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and pass a motor vehicle record check.
