Below is a final letter from former Library Director Jon Solomon, written in July during his last couple of weeks working here. Help us welcome fall, and all the changes the season brings.
Dear Longmont Library Lovers,
I am not a fan of goodbyes, but the reality is that this will be my final Letter from the Director. By the time [the fall] brochure is in your hands, this may be old news, but I have accepted a position at the Denver Public Library. It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to serve the Longmont community, and work in a library with some of the most dedicated staff I have experienced in my career.
Transition and change can be difficult, but I am pleased to share that Julia Jacobs—one of the library’s senior leadership staff—will step in as Acting Director while movement is made in recruiting a new Library Director. Julia has over 20 years of experience working for this library, and I am confident she will keep this library running smoothly during this transition period.
I would like to thank all the staff here, the City, and this entire community for your support of me while in this role, and the undying support for this wonderful library. This all has made it fun and easy to come to work every day, and while I am always in favor of new opportunities and challenges, I will miss it here very much, and have enjoyed turning the page together.
All the best,
Jon Solomon,
[Former] Library Director
