What is Vision Zero?

The City of Longmont adopted Vision Zero in 2023 with the goal of reducing annual traffic deaths and severe injuries on City roadways to zero by 2040.

Are you interested in learning about Vision Zero or how to get involved? Longmont Vision Zero is hosting a community workshop at the Longmont Senior Center on August 27 from 6 to 7:30 pm.

LevelUp Tournament Registration Closes August 29

Registration closes Aug. 29 for LevelUp Longmont’s Street Fighter 6 main tournament. Teams of two will battle it out in the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium before a live audience at the festival.

Not competing? Be a volunteer, or enjoy the event. LevelUp Longmont is free to attend and features tabletop games, a Brawlhalla pickup tournament, racing simulators, tech demonstrations, outdoor activities, vendor booths, food trucks and a Quest Log, a bingo-style challenge where participants earn XP for prizes.

Recreation Center Maintenance Closure

Every year, the City’s recreation facilities close for maintenance. The entire Longmont

Recreation Center will be closed August 30-September 6.

The swimming pools are currently closed through September 18 to install a leisure pool play area. Find more details on the pool closure.

Cruise Night Returns. Again.

Last month’s return of Longmont Cruise Night was such a terrific success that all our car friends are excited to tune in for Season 1, Episode 2.

Head to Main Street to see Longmont’s automotive community show off their favorite rides. While you’re there, enjoy a night on the town. Make dinner reservations, grab a drink, shop at local boutiques and shops, and enjoy the spectacle.

Council Recap

On Tuesday, August 18 the Longmont Housing Authority Board of Commissioners met at 5:30 pm. Then at 7 pm there will be a special meeting of the Longmont Urban Renewal Authority (LURA).

On Tuesday, August 25 Council will have a Regular Session featuring an introduction to the 2027 budget.

Safety and Justice Center Closure

The Safety and Justice Center (225 Kimbark) will be closed to the public August 24–September 8 for construction. For assistance, call 303-651-8555 for police and fire or 303-774-4804 for courts and probation. In an emergency, call 911.

Development Services Center Changes

Beginning Sept. 2, the Development Services Center (385 Kimbark St.) will open at 11 am on Wednesdays, giving staff dedicated time to process permits and respond to inquiries. Hours are 8 am–5 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 11 am–5 pm on Wednesday. Building Services also launched a new phone system: the number remains 303-651-8332.

Help Save Water During Our Highest-Use Months

Runoff season ended early this year, and Longmont is now relying on stored water until spring. More than half of summer water use goes to lawns, so outdoor savings matter most. The City is cutting its own water use, and you can help too: skip a watering day, water before 10 am or after 6 pm, and check your sprinklers for leaks. Find more water conservation tips.
