All programs are held or begin at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center unless otherwise noted.

Seasonal Offerings

Suggested donations are collected at the time of registration. Spaces are limited; register early.  All guests must be registered.  Registration is available online or by calling 303-774-4700.  All ages are welcome unless specified.  $4/person suggested donation unless otherwise noted.

Urgent Need:  Environmental Ed Field Trip Volunteers

Bird Walks - Ages 10+

7:30 am, Aug 20

Local birder, Carl Starace, guides you around the loop trail as you explore the variety of birds that pass through or call Sandstone Ranch home. $4/participant

Educational Programs with Longmont Rangers - Ages 8+

Explore the ecosystem of Sandstone Ranch with the Longmont Ranger Team.

  • Sneaky Serpents:  3 pm, June 15
  • Mutualism: 3 pm, July 20 - CANCELLED
  • Wildlife Detectives: 10 am, Aug 17  (moved from Aug 10)
  • In Full Plume!: 11 am, Sept 21

Astronomy Night & Star Party - All Ages

7-9:30 pm - Aug 17

Includes a presentation from members of the Longmont Astronomical Society along with start viewing.

Guided History Tour - All Ages

10:30 am or 12:30 pm - Aug 24

Enjoy a guided history tour inside and outside the Visitors Center. 

Geology Walk - Ages 14+

10 am - Sept 28

Join volunteer naturalist Roger Myers as he guides you from the scenic overlook and along the loop trail to explore the geology of Sandstone Ranch.

The Library at Sandstone - All Ages (Bilingual Family Programs)

Free Community Nights - Select Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30 pm
  • Jeff & Paige - Family Concert using songs, storytelling, and interactive play, July 16
  • The Vibe Tribe - Dixieland Jazz Concert, July 30 (rescheduled from June 18)
  • Legendary Ladies, Historical Reenactment, August 20

Bring a sack dinner and join us at 5:30 pm before the main event to enjoy the scenery at Sandstone Ranch. Main event begins at 6:30 pm. Outdoor events, weather permitting: bring something to sit on.  No registration needed.  

 

On-going Programs and Public Hours

Group Tours: Year Round

Nature, explore and more!  Schedule a private tour for your class, organization or family. 1 hour = $4 per person, 2 hours = $5 per person.  Contact Kirsten at 303-774-4692 to schedule.

Open to Public Hours - Free Admission, Donations Welcome

Saturdays
2nd & 4th Saturdays, March 9- Oct 26, 10 am - 2 pm 

The Visitors Center is open for self-led tours. 

Wednesdays
May 1 - August 28, 9 am - noon

Enjoy weekly nature themes with a nature activity. Self-led schedule allows for arrival anytime during the open hours.

Summer Nature Fridays 

May 24 - June 28, 9 am - noon

Enjoy outdoor exploration with a weekly theme and storytelling at 11 am. All ages welcome. Activities and story vary week to week! $5/child for materials.  Register for Nature Fridays here
