Rough and Ready Greenway Improvements
Project Overview
Rough and Ready Greenway Improvements will occur between Pace Street (north of 9th Avenue) and Mountain View Avenue. The project will upgrade the existing trail and create on continuous 8-foot-wide concrete trail.
What’s included:

- Replacing sections of the current asphalt and concrete trail
- Building a single 8-foot concrete path along the corridor
- Small alignment shifts to reduce impacts to nearby private property, especially near fences and landscaping
- Coordinated construction with the Pace Street Improvements Project
Project Status
Updated: June 1, 2025
Construction started May 4, 2026 and is expected to be completed late summer 2026.
During Construction:

- The trail is currently closed between 9th Ave. and Mountain View Ave.
- The recommended detour route uses Mountain View Ave. and Lashley St.
- Mountain View Ave will be closed between Pace St. and Alpine St. from May 26 – June 19. Trail users will detour using Independence Dr. during this time.
- Construction will occur between Monday – Friday from 7 am – 6 pm. There may be times when work is required on the weekends due to weather and other factors.
Goals & Planned Improvements
Rough and Ready Greenway improvements aim to bring the greenway up to current City of Longmont trail standards and improve accessibility. The project will not impact Rough and Ready Ditch or ditch operations.

- Bid Advertisement for Contractor – February 2026

Funding
This dedicated municipal fund is used to support capital construction projects that build, expand or improve public buildings and other public facilities. These types of Capital construction projects include infrastructure such as parks, trails, signage, ADA upgrades and public education installation. Revenue for the fund comes from a portion of the City’s 3.53 cent sales and use tax.
The Conservation Trust Fund (CTF) in Longmont is defined as a special municipal fund supported by Colorado Lottery proceeds. The fund is designated for the acquisition, development & maintenance of conservation sites, including greenways.
