Snow Removal on Sidewalks

Longmont City Code states that residents must clear sidewalks in front of their homes or businesses within 24 hours after a snowfall.

Power Outages

Call 303-651-8386 to report a power outage.

Tree Limbs

The Longmont Waste Diversion Center accepts residential yard waste and branches year-round.

Trash, Recycling & Compost

There are no weather related changes to trash, recycling or compost service at this time.

Vehicle Accidents

Vehicle accidents of any type (on public or private property) within the Longmont city limits should be reported immediately to the Longmont Emergency Communications Center at 303-651-8501. If you are referred to file an online accident report (example: Longmont is on accident alert), please visit File Police Online Report webpage to find a link for filing a report.

Snow Shoveling Assistance

The Cultivate SnowBusters program connects members of the community with seniors who face challenges clearing snow from sidewalks around their home. After a storm hits, their volunteers visit seniors’ homes to shovel snow, provide friendly interactions, and promote safety and peace of mind. Call Cultivate at 303-443-1933 for more information.

The best way to keep up-to-date on storm impacts is to follow the RTD Twitter account at @RideRTD and to sign up for Rider Alerts. More information about RTD snow preparations and facilities snow removal can be found on the News Stop on RTD’s website.

Understand our Goals in Snow and Ice Control.

View our Snow and Ice Control webpages for an overview of the City’s goals and strategies, plus view the designated snow routes map. Not every street is a snow route; find the ones near you and plan your best trip.

Follow the Code.

Most residents are required to remove snow and ice from the public sidewalks adjacent to their property. Longmont Municipal Code states that you have 24 hours after a storm ends to clear your sidewalks.

Report Problems.

  • For emergency needs, contact Public Safety. If you have an immediate, life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1.
  • To report snow route concerns, contact Transportation.
  • To report electrical outages 24 hours a day, contact Longmont Power & Communications (LPC).
  • If a power line is damaged between your house and the pole, a private electrician should be called for repairs. LPC is not responsible for this repair. Report all other power line damages to Longmont Power & Communications.
  • To report downed or damaged trees on City property or right-of-way, contact Forestry. If a damaged tree hits a power line, contact LPC at 303-651-8386. If you have damaged trees on private property, please contact an independent tree contractor.
  • To report drainage problems on city streets, contact Water Utilities.
  • Report potholes by making a Street Repair Request.
