Information and Technology Section

The Information and Technology (IT) section of the Longmont Department of Public Safety, Support Services Division is comprised of two unique work groups: the Technical Support Unit and the Records Unit. The focus of these two units is long-range planning, acquisition, implementation and support of technology used in Public Safety and the maintenance, dissemination, and retention of criminal justice and fire records in compliance with local, state and federal law.

Technical Support Unit

Application Management
Application support and administration for police, fire, and public safety specific systems is provided by the public safety technical support team. These systems include, but are not limited to, automated fingerprinting, photo capture, police and fire incident reporting, criminal intelligence collection, traffic accident reporting, and electronic ticketing systems.

Project Management
Public Safety IT management is responsible for researching, budgeting, planning and implementation of information systems and hardware equipment to support the needs of public safety employees. The public safety IT team works with City Enterprise Technology Services staff to coordinate implementation of technology projects to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal requirements.

Technical Support
Public Safety IT provides technical support for employees in the Safety and Justice Building, fire stations, police substation offices, a shooting range, and computer equipment in police and fire vehicles. Public Safety technical support personnel are on-call for after hours emergency technical support. The Public Safety IT section also provides statistical data and reports for department staff and other public safety stakeholders.
